Slate is a fine-grained rock that originates from shale or clay. Formed through the process of metamorphism, where heat and pressure cause the original sedimentary layers to recrystallize into a more durable and denser material.

Slate is known for its natural ability to split into thin, flat layers and its resistance to weathering. A notable example of slate’s use is the Houses of Parliament in London, where its slate roofing contributed to its long-lasting durability.

Quartzite is a natural metamorphic rock formed from sandstone through high heat and pressure. It has a crystalline structure and is known for its durability and natural variations in color and texture.

Notably, quartzite has been used in iconic structures such as the Empire State Building, where its resilience and aesthetic qualities contribute to the it’s enduring elegance.
